SOUTHINGTON, CONN. – Bread for Life has been selected as one of three nonprofits to receive a $9,365 community grant from American Eagle Financial Credit Union’s (American Eagle) Cash Back to the Community program. Bread for Life is a community-supported human service organization that feeds, provides fellowship, affirms dignity, and builds connections for those experiencing food insecurity within the Southington Community.

Funds from American Eagle will help Bread for Life support the ongoing costs of food. Bread for Life serves more than 160 meals daily for those in the community.

“At Bread for Life, our vision is ‘so no one goes hungry,’” said Missy Cipriano, Executive Director, Bread for Life. “Hunger is about dignity, connection, and care, and this funding from American Eagle helps us support the full range of needs our neighbors bring with them.”

“American Eagle’s Cash Back to the Community program allows our members to directly support organizations making a meaningful difference locally,” said Howard Brady, American Eagle President & CEO. “Bread for Life plays a vital role in addressing food insecurity in Southington, and we’re proud to help strengthen their ability to serve the community.”

Through the Cash Back to the Community program, American Eagle donates one percent of its credit and debit card interchange income—the fees collected from card transactions—to three nonprofits each quarter, as voted on by members and the public. Since 2020, the program has distributed more than $631,000 to local organizations.
