According to the dictionary, the term “ennui” means, in the context of demolishing historic buildings, “a profound, listless, dissatisfaction, boredom, or world-weary melancholia that arises from the destruction of something meaningful, familiar, and historically rich, often replaced by generic, low-complexity modern architecture.”

The elementary facilities plan is an ambitious proposal to rebuild schools that could cost local taxpayers more than $100 million dollars. When accounting for possible cost overruns and inflation, the impact on local taxes may be even greater. This proposal is complicated and contains numerous uncertainties.

I am writing to respectfully ask our school community to reconsider the name of our high school girls' athletic teams, the "Lady Blue Knights."
