Care About Southington’s News? Pitch In!

 

Thanks for clicking on this page! My guess is that you are curious to learn what ‘pitching in’ involves. So let me explain.

 

While this site is free for you to use, it’s not free to us. Covering our tech expenses and paying the members of our team (all are part-timers) costs between $30-40,000 a year. When you help us cover those expenses, we can focus our energy on what’s going on around town rather than worrying about the budget. Every amount helps – $7 is the monthly cost of one email account, $75 is what an experienced freelancer receives for an article, $750 would pay for web-hosting for a year, while $7,500 would cover most of our expenses for three months. All of these elements are crucial for our operation, and when you chip in financially you keep the news flowing. Our donation system will open in late August, 2025.

 

We are always looking for volunteers: people to manage the calendar, or to help us with grant-writing, or to publicize what we do. If you are a local writer with an area of interest or expertise, consider working up a column for us. Leaders in the religious community are welcome to send in pieces. And anyone may contribute a letter to the editor on some matter of public interest.

 

We are interested in working with other organizations whose mission overlaps with ours, especially non-profits. We can’t tackle every project, but we are always open to a conversation.

 

We would love to talk to people who might be interested in doing part-time work for us now or in the future. Freelancers who write, photograph, or create other kinds of content are especially encouraged to reach out.

 

Your feedback is also welcome. Any time you tell us that you like something or didn’t like something we pay attention. If you have any ideas or suggestions, we will give them consideration.
