Football

Southington football had to battle through adversity against Hall in their October 4 matchup as they saw starting quarterback Luke Prozzo and starting running back Nick Andrews both suffer injuries. The Blue Knights still found a way, moving to 2-2 on the season with a 36-30 victory.

With 38 seconds remaining in the game, backup quarterback sophomore Jacoby Roman found backup running back Ben Beaulieu for a 33-yard touchdown. The play came on fourth-and-long, and led Southington to victory.

Roman threw three touchdowns overall and even ran one in after coming in for Prozzo. His second touchdown pass was a 32-yarder to senior Jaxiel Rivera, which the lead to 30-28 late in the fourth quarter. On the ensuing drive, senior Ahmed Mamoon came up with a crucial tackle for a loss on third down, forcing Hall to punt. Starting at their own 35-yard line with just over three minutes to play, the Blue Knights managed to march down the field before the Roman-to-Beaulieu connection.

Southington will look to earn another win when they travel to face New Britain on October 10.
